‘Vari’ / ‘Varai’ / samo seeds – 1 cup
‘danyache kut’ / roasted peanuts powder – 2 tbsp
Green chilies – 2
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
‘sajuk tup’ / clarified butter – ½ tbsp
Salt to taste
Water – 3 cups
How to make varicha bhat?
First lightly roast varai on a medium heat for couple of minutes, stirring constantly.
Take out in a dish and add a glass of water.
Wash and drain out all the water.
Heat butter in a kadai.
Once heated, add green chilies and cumin seeds.
Then add 3 cups of water and bring it to boil.
Add salt to taste.
Now add ‘varai’ and stir well.
Lower the heat and allow it to cook until water evaporates, stirring occasionally.
Add roasted peanuts powder and mix well.
Cover and cook for couple of minutes on low heat.
Now ‘varicha bhat’ is ready to be served.
Serve hot with ‘shengadanyachi amti’ / roasted peanuts curry.
